Reports of attacks on ships near the Strait of Hormuz hit a record as oil exports slow
According to BBC Verify analysis based on reports from the UK maritime trade agency UKMTO, 12 ships were attacked between 5 and 11 October — the most since the start of the US and Israel war with Iran. Experts link this to Tehran's attempts to regain control over the strait amid a rise in US-escorted convoys. Oil flow through the strait fell from 15 to 12.6 million barrels per day.
