Norway to strengthen military presence in Finnmark near the Russian border
Norway will deploy sensors for NASAMS air defense systems in Finnmark and send just over 30 soldiers to the municipality of Sør-Varanger by the end of 2026. The reinforcement was announced a few days after Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre's phone conversation with Vladimir Putin about a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
