British charity raises £30 million and buys the largest Rothbury estate
After a two-year campaign, Wildlife Trusts has acquired 3,800 hectares of the Rothbury estate in Northumberland — the largest land purchase in England in three decades. £17 million came from 25,000 people, with the rest from the National Lottery fund and the environment department.
