A Ukrainian refugee in Scotland faced a £9,000 tax over an apartment in Kyiv
Kateryna Stepanovych, a Ukrainian woman living in Orkney, was unable to buy a house in North Ayrshire: because of an apartment in Kyiv left in a war zone, the couple would have had to pay an additional ADS tax of around £9,000. The case was raised in the Scottish Parliament; First Minister John Swinney asked Revenue Scotland to look into it.
