University of Glasgow scientists find that raised eyebrows make a speaker appear more confident to listeners
A University of Glasgow study showed that eyebrow and eye movements significantly affect how confident speech is perceived. Raised eyebrows and slow blinking were associated with confidence by listeners from Western Europe and East Asia, while furrowed brows and squinting were associated with doubt. The work was published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B.
