Berlin Opens Exhibition “Genghis Khan and the World of the Mongols” for the 800th Anniversary of the Empire Founder’s Death
The James-Simon Gallery in Berlin is hosting an exhibition dedicated to Genghis Khan and the “Mongol century” (1250–1350) from October 21, 2026 to April 18, 2027. Curator Matthias Wemhoff told Deutsche Welle about the ruler’s legacy: the creation of the largest continental empire in history, military and administrative reforms, as well as the unprecedented cruelty of the conquests, which, according to estimates, claimed around 40 million lives.
