The Olot border crossing on the border with Turkmenistan is set to be modernized: a new bridge and the end of trailer swapping
Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport announced plans to increase the capacity of the Olot checkpoint: the construction of a new bridge over the Yomonjar canal is being considered to replace the 1978 structure, along with abolishing the trailer swap mechanism introduced by the Turkmen side during the pandemic. From January to October, more than 243,000 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.
