“Chipflation”: Memory and storage prices surge sharply due to demand from the AI industry
Prices for RAM and SSDs have risen by tens and hundreds of percent: a Corsair 32 GB kit on Amazon US jumped from $52 to $250. The cause is the reallocation of DRAM and NAND production capacity toward AI infrastructure, including HBM memory. In the UAE, DDR5 modules cost over 2,000 dirhams, and analysts speak of a “structural, not cyclical” market shift.
