Sharjah to double the capacity of Khor Fakkan port amid growing investor interest
Sharjah plans to increase the container capacity of Khor Fakkan port from 3.5 to 5 million containers a year, with a long-term goal of 10 million. The port is located outside the Strait of Hormuz and is attracting attention as an alternative route amid trade disruptions caused by the US–Iran war. The development will be supported by a railway station near University City in 2027 and the expansion of Sharjah Airport.
