Patriotic Union of Kurdistan exits the Kurdistan Regional Government: a power crisis after the parliamentary session
The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) announced its withdrawal from the Kurdistan Regional Government after the region's parliament elected a speaker for the first time in almost two years without the PUK's participation. Party leader Bafel Talabani warned of the possible creation of parallel governing bodies in Sulaymaniyah, while the KDP rejected the accusations. The crisis puts at risk the power-sharing system in place since 2006.
