Rosatom: an international financial institution is participating in the financing of Uzbekistan's first nuclear power plant

On 23 October, Rosatom head Alexey Likhachyov, after a meeting with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, said that an international financial institution is participating in the financing of the construction of the integrated nuclear power plant in the Jizzakh region. All four power units are under construction at the site: two VVER-1000 and two RITM-200N. By the end of 2026, the foundation slab of the first power unit is planned to be completed.

Uzbekistan plans to complete the pouring of the foundation slab of the first NPP power unit by the end of 2026

Following the October 23 meeting between Alexey Likhachev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Rosatom announced that by the end of the year the foundation slab of the first power unit will be completed at the NPP site in the Jizzakh region, requiring about 10 thousand cubic meters of concrete. The parties also discussed personnel training, a nuclear city for more than 30 thousand people, and cooperation in nuclear medicine.

Uzatom's press service announced the appointment of Siroj Bekchanov as director of the state institution 'Directorate for Construction of the Nuclear Workers' Town' under the Atomic Energy Agency. He previously served as deputy khokim of Khorezm region. The Directorate is responsible for building residential, social and infrastructure facilities for specialists of the nuclear power plant in Farish district of Jizzakh region.
