Inflation in Italy accelerated to 5.4% amid economic stagnation
According to the statistics agency Istat, inflation in Italy in October 2026 rose to 5.4% year-on-year, up from 4.2% in September, while GDP in the third quarter was virtually unchanged. The main driver of the acceleration was named as rising energy prices. Analysts doubt the achievability of the government's 1% growth target.
