Blogger Mikhail Svetov sentenced in absentia to one year in penal colony
A court has sentenced in absentia Mikhail Svetov, a blogger designated as a foreign agent, to one year of imprisonment in a general-regime penal colony for evading foreign agent obligations. Additionally, he has been banned for three years from publishing information and administering internet resources. Svetov is in Brazil and has been placed on a wanted list; earlier, on July 20, 2026, the Savoyolovsky District Court of Moscow ordered his arrest in absentia in the same case.
