Pope Leo XIV votes in US elections for the first time in history — by mail from the Vatican
The Vatican confirmed that Pope Leo XIV, a Chicago native, mailed his ballot for the US midterm elections on November 3. He became the first known pontiff to take part in a vote. He applied for the ballot on October 3 in Will County, Illinois, where he is registered to vote under his secular name, Robert Francis Prevost.
