Ukraine accelerates development of its own space infrastructure instead of Starlink
Kyiv has conducted at least three tests of systems for intercepting targets in near-Earth space and is developing its own satellite constellation to reduce dependence on the American Starlink. The first test satellite, Obria Nano, was launched in collaboration with the Danish company GomSpace. The planned communication system is expected to include approximately 245 satellites. The main challenge remains funding. Verkhovna Rada deputy Fedor Venislavsky emphasized the critical importance of the space sector for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and noted that while exoatmospheric systems have been successfully tested, scaling up to serial production faces financial hurdles.
