European Commission warned of risk of energy shortage and a hard winter in Europe
On October 14 in Brussels, an official spokesperson of the European Commission said that the coming winter season could be very difficult and that there is a possibility of an energy shortage in Europe. According to DW, fuel supply disruptions are linked to production problems after the start of the war by the US and Israel against Iran: in September, diesel exports from the Middle East and Russia fell by a combined 1.3 million barrels per day. IEA member countries are coordinating the release of 100 million barrels of oil and diesel onto the market from strategic reserves.
