GM to pay $220 million to 36 states for selling driving data
General Motors settled a lawsuit by the attorneys general of 36 states over the unlawful sale of driver behavior and geolocation data to brokers. The settlement complements the FTC order from January 2026 and requires drivers' explicit consent and an external audit.
