Fitch downgrades France's rating outlook to 'negative' amid economic stagnation
Rating agency Fitch maintained France's sovereign rating at A+ but changed the outlook from 'stable' to 'negative', citing weak growth, expensive borrowing, and a rising deficit. On the same day, Insee reported a 0.1% decline in GDP for the third quarter. The government insists on adopting the 2027 budget with a 5% deficit, not ruling out the use of Article 49.3.
