More than a thousand migrants landed on the Canary Islands in a single night, one dead
From Thursday evening to Friday morning rescuers brought at least 1,021 migrants to El Hierro, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote, with one arriving dead. The main burden fell on El Hierro, with a population of about 11,500, where protests took place and the president of the archipelago requested a meeting with Prime Minister Sanchez.
