The Committee for Family Affairs explained why there are fewer marriages and more divorces in Uzbekistan
The Committee for Family and Women's Affairs linked the decline in the number of marriages to the demographic downturn of 1993–2004, and the rise in divorces over nine months of 2026 to the mass legalization of old court decisions. More than 40% of the 38,614 divorces are people who were divorced by court years ago but never registered the dissolution with civil registry offices.
