Russia's denunciation of the European Convention for the Prevention of Torture has taken effect
On November 1, 2026, the denunciation of the European Convention for the Prevention of Torture, which Russia notified about on October 30, 2025, took effect. The Council of Europe confirmed the end of the committee's mandate to monitor places of detention in the country.
