Emergency Ministry names glacier exposure as the cause of the deaths of 17 climbers in Bezengi
Eldar Khashkhozhev, first deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Emergency Ministry for Kabardino-Balkaria, stated that the snow-and-ice collapse on September 6, 2026, on Mount Mizhirgi, which claimed the lives of 17 climbers, occurred due to the weakening of the glacier against the backdrop of climate change.
