Austrian Chancellor threatens veto over EU budget proposal
Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker said he will not approve the EU's new seven-year multiannual financial framework for 2028–2034 if it exceeds Vienna's 'pain threshold.' He criticized the European Commission's demand for 2,500 additional officials and called on Brussels to cut spending. Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden and Denmark are also opposed to the plan.
