More than 666 thousand people sign petition against Hakeem Jeffries' election as Speaker of the House
A petition on Change.org, launched on September 3 by Nicole Whitted, calls on Democrats in the new Congress not to vote for Hakeem Jeffries for speaker in January 2027 and to nominate an alternative candidate. By November 5, 2026, it had been signed by 666,025 people.
