Auto industry supplier Schaeffler to cut nearly 3,500 jobs and close five plants in Europe
German auto parts manufacturer Schaeffler announced it will cut 3,460 employees by 2028 and close five sites, most of them in Germany. The company attributes the decision to declining demand for internal combustion engine vehicles, a delayed rollout of electric vehicles, and competition, including from Chinese manufacturers.
