The President of Uzbekistan signed a law on October 14 increasing fines for begging and for involving others in it under Article 188−3 of the Administrative Liability Code. The fine for begging was raised from 1−3 to 3−5 BRV, and for involving vulnerable persons — from 5−10 to 10−15 BRV; arrest of up to 15 days is also possible. Liability was introduced in 2019.

The fine for begging in public places has risen from 1–3 to 3–5 BRV, and for involving minors, the elderly and vulnerable persons — from 5–10 to 10–15 BRV. In both cases administrative arrest of up to 15 days is possible.
