SLS launch during Artemis 2 carved a 5,000 km gap in the ionosphere and temporarily affected GPS
A study in Geophysical Research Letters showed that the April launch of the SLS rocket with the Artemis 2 crew created two 5,000 km holes in the ionosphere and caused disturbances 10 times stronger than during Starship tests. Scientists encountered such an effect for the first time and urge that it be taken into account in future missions.
