Spain's transport minister refuses to resign after high-speed train crash that killed at least 69 people
Spain's Transport Minister Óscar Puente said he will not resign following the collision of high-speed trains near the town of Urda, which killed at least 69 people. A preliminary report showed that the Renfe train was travelling at 160–200 km/h before striking the stationary train. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez acknowledged that trust in the high-speed network has been undermined.
