The body was found after relatives contacted the police
In Monaco, 29-year-old Antoine de Massy, a first cousin of Prince Albert II, was found dead. According to Life.ru , citing the local outlet Monaco Matin, the body was discovered in a green area near the Larvotto boulevard. On Sunday, the young man failed to show up for a family lunch, and his absence worried his loved ones, so one of his family members contacted the police. A few hours later, officers found the body in one of the principality's small parks.
Who was Antoine de Massy
The deceased was the son of Baron Christian de Massy and Cécile Gelabale. His grandmother was Princess Antoinette, the elder sister of Prince Rainier III — meaning he was related to Monaco's ruling family and was a first cousin of the current Prince Albert II.
The course of the investigation
The principality's chief prosecutor, Stéphane Thiaucourt, said law enforcement agencies have begun looking into the circumstances of the death. According to Monaco Matin, during the investigation police detained a person captured by surveillance cameras near the place where the body was found; he is currently being questioned. The outlet notes, however, that the detainee may turn out to be a witness with no connection to the death. The cause of de Massy's death has not yet been established, and the inquiry continues. According to Nice Matin, the suspect's detention has been extended by another 24 hours.
