The defendant has been transferred for medical treatment

Dmitry Vislobokov, commercial director of the company Narmyasprom, who is a defendant in a case involving the embezzlement of 700 million rubles in supplies of stewed meat for the needs of the special military operation, has been transferred from a pre-trial detention center to a hospital. His lawyer Robert Zinovyev told RIA Novosti that the defendant is currently receiving treatment at the medical facility of Moscow's pre-trial detention center No. 1, Matrosskaya Tishina. 'I have been confirmed that Dmitry Vislobokov is receiving treatment in the hospital,' — Life.ru quotes the defense lawyer as saying.

Background: the defense's motion

Earlier, Vislobokov's lawyers sought his release from custody on health grounds, arguing that he suffers from a serious illness that makes it impossible to keep him in a pre-trial detention center. After the lawyers' appeal, the administration of Moscow's pre-trial detention center No. 4 allowed an inpatient examination — as a result, the defendant was transferred to a hospital. The lawyer did not specify the duration of further treatment.

The essence of the case and other defendants

The Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia is investigating a case of fraud on an especially large scale. According to the investigation, in producing canned meat for the Ministry of Defense, participants in the alleged scheme used cheap ingredients instead of components required by state standards; the damage is estimated at 700 million rubles. Specialists examined 31 samples of stewed meat produced by the MPK Selyatino enterprise: a comprehensive expert analysis established that the composition of the products supplied to the military department did not comply with GOST standards.

Preventive measures

Besides Vislobokov, the case involves former head of a department of the Resource Support Department of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Viktor Tarasevich, Narmyasprom's general director Alexey Baranov, and businessman Dmitry Mizgir — all three are under arrest. Earlier, a military court extended Baranov's arrest until February 10, 2027. Investigators have also put on the wanted list the head of MPK Selyatino, Artyom Baryshkov, and the enterprise's technologist Zinaida Grishchuk. The defendants do not plead guilty.
