- The cats come twice a day to the spot where the president chops firewood
The President and Four Cats
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has helped four homeless cats, who are being looked for new owners before the cold weather sets in. A video showing the head of state holding the animals appeared on the Telegram channel 'Pool of the First'. The cats live in Lukashenko's small homeland, the village of Alexandria in the Mogilev region.
Who Is Looking for a Home
Among the candidates for a new home are a little tricolor kitten and her young mother, a ginger cat, and a gray one missing a front paw. According to the authors of the post, all four have affectionate personalities, enjoy interacting with people, and readily make contact; Lukashenko has already met the animals and appreciated their friendliness. The cats have even developed a 'schedule' of meetings with the president: twice a day they come to the spot where he chops firewood — the channel's authors are confident the animals have remembered that no one will hurt them there.
What Is Offered to Those Interested
For now, the animals are sheltering in a box near a local store. As winter approaches, they need warm housing, so 'Pool of the First' has announced a search for responsible owners: those willing to take in one of the four-legged animals are asked to contact the authors of the post via social media.
Lukashenko and Animals
Lukashenko's interest in animals has been noted before. In October, according to Life.ru, he was given a rare Japanese Wagyu heifer named Osveya — she was born on July 1, and the president received the gift during a visit to a farm in the Vitebsk region. Lukashenko noted the heifer's calm temperament, asked about her living conditions, and promised to raise Osveya on his own farm. Earlier, he was also given a Jersey cow named Musya.
