What happened in Hurghada

In the early hours of November 8, a series of powerful explosions rang out near the Sunny Days El Palacio hotel, popular among Russian tourists, in Hurghada, Egypt. This was reported by Life.ru, citing the Telegram channel SHOT and eyewitnesses: according to tourists, there were at least five or six loud bangs, after which a bright glow from the fire was visible in the sky, noticeable from several kilometers away. Frightened guests ran out of the hotel and questioned staff about what was happening.

A boat with diving cylinders caught fire

As it turned out, the tourist boat United, used for sea safaris and diving excursions, caught fire near the hotel. According to SHOT, the vessel carried diving cylinders, which began exploding under the impact of the open flames — this explains the series of loud bangs heard by vacationers. The Egyptian publication Al-Masry Al-Youm, cited by Life.ru, specifies that the fire broke out near Beach No. 4 on the Hurghada promenade.

No casualties reported so far

Fire crews and ambulance teams arrived at the scene; the fire was extinguished and prevented from spreading to nearby vessels and buildings. It has been preliminarily established that there were no passengers on board the boat at the time of the fire, and no casualties have been reported. Egyptian specialists and law enforcement agencies are investigating the cause of the fire. Gazeta.Ru, in its version of the news, also states that, according to preliminary information, there are no casualties, and the cause of the incident is being clarified.
