Second place in China
Russian figure skater Alexandra Ignatova (Trusova) took second place at the Grand Prix stage in China. Across her two programs she scored 221.27 points, landing a quadruple lutz in the free skate. The winner was Japan's Mone Chiba (224.48), third place went to Lee Hae-in of South Korea (210.79), and fourth to Anastasia Gubanova of Georgia (208.58). Gazeta.Ru provided a live broadcast of the competition.
Trusova's words after the tournament
In a video from Channel One after the tournament Trusova admitted that her nerves only grow with each competition. 'Surprisingly, I got through it more easily than in Kazakhstan, specifically in terms of how I felt physically. Of course, I was more nervous — it seems to me that I get more and more nervous with every competition. It should probably be the other way around, but that's how it is for me (laughs). But I'm glad everything worked out; we're getting ready for America,' she said. Earlier, the ISU praised Trusova.
Context of the eligibility
Her performance comes as part of Russian athletes' return to the international stage: on June 30, the International Skating Union published a press release on the admission of Russians to tournaments under its auspices starting from the 2026/27 season — in a neutral status, in both individual and team events, including figure skating, short track and speed skating. Trusova's second place at the Grand Prix stage is a confirmed result already achieved under this eligibility; her next competition, according to her, will take place in America.
