Death at the age of 75
Actor and stuntman Anatoly Kalmykov died on October 31 at the age of 75. A friend and colleague of the actor told TASS about the cause of death: “Anatoly’s heart gave out. He suffered a massive heart attack.” Life.ru reports on Kalmykov’s death.
More than half a century in cinema
Kalmykov was born on January 5, 1951, on Sakhalin and devoted more than half a century to cinema. His career began in 1969 as a stuntman — he performed dangerous stunts in place of other actors. Among his first films were “The Adjutant of His Excellency,” the war epic “Liberation,” and “The Crown of the Russian Empire, or Elusive Again.” Gradually he began appearing on screen as an actor as well, becoming known to audiences for episodic roles. In total, he took part in more than 160 projects, including “Shirley-Myrli,” “The Man from the Boulevard des Capucines,” “Heads and Tails,” “The Fountain,” “Beyond the Wolves,” “Don’t Be Born Beautiful,” “Mukhtar’s Return,” and “Mosgaz. Case No. 2: The Executioner”; among his later works were the series “Hotel Eleon” and “Nastenka.”
Another loss for the stunt community
The outlet notes that Kalmykov’s passing became yet another loss for the Russian stunt community: in September, the death was reported of actor and stunt coordinator Timofey Ukhov, known for the series “Secrets of the Investigation” and “Glukhar.” His death was also caused by a heart attack; Ukhov was 54 years old. Thus, in less than two months, the profession has lost two masters of stunts — and in both cases, according to available reports, the cause was a heart ailment, although sources do not assess any connection between the two cases.
