Speaking at the opening ceremony was the First Deputy Minister of Culture — Director of the Cinematography Agency Jahongir Ahmedov. He spoke in detail about the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan's film industry and the opportunities created for local and foreign filmmakers.

Proposals for joint projects

Ahmedov invited representatives of the Turkic world's film industry to shoot films in Uzbekistan and proposed expanding international cooperation and implementing joint film projects. The forum discussed strengthening cooperation in the film sphere among Turkic states and promising opportunities for new joint projects.

The cinema museum, film studio complex and the screening of 'Farz'

As part of the summit, Uzbek filmmakers visited the cinema museum in Istanbul — a neoclassical building that once operated as the city's first movie theater. The delegation learned about the history of the formation and the modern achievements of Turkish cinema, and also studied the Turkish experience of systematically preserving, screening and promoting national cinematic heritage. In addition, the delegation visited a number of the country's well-known film studios, in particular the Haysem film studio complex.

Film screening and meeting with students

A special screening was held of the feature film 'Farz' by director Sarvar Karimov, which was included in the competition program of the 'Korkut Ata' Turkic world film festival. Uzbek filmmakers also met with Uzbek students at Istanbulkent University: the parties agreed on future cooperation with students studying in the cinematography field and on directing their potential and knowledge toward the development of Uzbek cinema.
