Certified companies and a bot for entrepreneurs
The Tashkent city administration (khokimiyat) has approved a list of certified advertising and production companies that may produce signage and outdoor advertising in accordance with the design code, reports the press service of the city administration (based on Spot.uz). The list includes 18 organizations: Siymo, Agm Group, Sns Dizayn, Faza, Feska.Uz, Gunn-Star, Masterskaya Pechati, Modern Print Service, New Led Technology, Bi Media, Usso Design, Artvision, Focus Advertising, Mediahub, Delovoy Gorod, Reg-Family, Biznes Bomond and Union TBK.
How the certification was carried out
Specialists from these companies completed training courses organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tashkent Invest and the city department of the Competition Committee, with the participation of the Marketing Association of Uzbekistan. For entrepreneurs who need to bring their signage and building exteriors into line with the design code requirements, working with such organizations is the route for registration provided by the administration. At the same time, the khokimiyat launched a Telegram bot, @DizaynKodBot, through which one can review the requirements for building design and outdoor advertising on specific streets. In addition, the administration published contact phone numbers for each district of the city — from Almazar to Yashnabad.
Context: how the design code was implemented
The Tashkent design code, developed by CM International on the order of Toshkent Invest Kompaniyasi, was approved by the city Council of People's Deputies on February 17, and its decision came into force in mid-May. The document defines the types and boundaries of public spaces, rules for placing elements of urban design and the design of commercial facilities, a list of tourist and gastronomic streets, as well as the amount of the maintenance fee for landscaping. In August, the administration announced a change of approach to implementing the rules after objections from businesses, emphasizing 'open dialogue, clear communication and individual consideration of emerging issues.' The approval of the list of certified companies and the launch of the bot are a practical continuation of this course: entrepreneurs now have an officially defined list of who can carry out the work and where to clarify the requirements for their street. Earlier, Spot.uz also reported that the Competition Committee had identified nearly 4,500 language violations on signage and in outdoor advertising.
