The key facts

  • Wholesale pollock prices in the Far East fell from 215 to 203 rubles per kilogram (−5.6%) between September 21 and November 2
  • By early November the catch exceeded 2 million tonnes — about half of all Russian fish catches
  • In September the opposite trend was recorded: a 59.3% year-on-year price increase

Prices reversed after a sharp rise

Wholesale pollock prices in the Far East fell by 5.6% over a month and a half: if a kilogram cost 215 rubles on September 21, by November 2 it was 203 rubles, that is 12 rubles cheaper. RIA Novosti reported this, citing monitoring by the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Gazeta.Ru and Life.ru). At Natsrybresurs, the decline was explained by the situation on the world market and the strong pace of the fishing season.

The dynamics changed within mere weeks

Notably, as recently as September analysts recorded the opposite picture: the wholesale price of pollock in the Far East reached the same 215 rubles per kilogram, having risen 59.3% year-on-year and 10.3% month-on-month. At the time, as Life.ru noted, the increase was attributed to high export demand and conditions on the world market, and prices rose despite growing catches. Thus, between September and November the direction of price dynamics shifted from a sharp rise to a moderate decline.

The catch exceeds 2 million tonnes

According to the Pollock Catchers Association, by early November Russia's catch exceeded 2 million tonnes — about half of the entire national fish catch. For the second year in a row, fishing in the Far Eastern fishery basin has surpassed the 2 million tonne mark. As of November 3, the catch was 60,000 tonnes (3.1%) above the 2025 level and 170,000 tonnes (9.2%) above the 2024 figure. According to the monitoring, it is the increased supply that is affecting the price for wholesale buyers.
