Doctor from Tashkent — Seoul flight receives award
Khasan Komilov, head of a private clinic in Samarkand, doctoral applicant at Tashkent State Medical University and otorhinolaryngologist, has been awarded the «Xalq salomatligi posboni» badge («Guardian of Public Health»). This was reported by Kun.uz citing a publication on the Ministry of Health's Telegram channel. The award is connected to an incident that occurred on 11 October aboard a plane flying the Tashkent — Seoul route (flight HY511): one of the passengers' condition suddenly deteriorated, and Komilov, together with the crew members, provided her with emergency medical assistance.
What happened on board
According to Kun.uz, at the time of the assistance the woman was in a state of shock: her body had turned blue and gone cold. After receiving medical help, she began to come around. The outlet had earlier reported on the incident itself on 13 October — that was when the details of what happened were first published.
The doctor's reaction
Komilov himself, after receiving the award, said he does not consider what happened a feat: «For a doctor this is not heroism — it is our daily hard work,» Kun.uz quotes him as saying. Notably, almost a month passed between the incident and the award ceremony: the assistance was provided on 11 October, while the badge was awarded, according to a report dated 7 November.
