Cell Detention
In Kabardino-Balkaria, officers of the regional directorates of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs disrupted the activities of a terrorist cell, detaining 16 people. All suspects have been placed in custody, the regional directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported (as published by Life.ru). The Investigation's Version
The alleged organizer of the group is a 40-year-old local resident. According to law enforcement, as early as March 2024 he decided to establish in the republic a cell of one of the international terrorist organizations banned in Russia and began recruiting people from his own circle. The investigation believes he managed to persuade 15 acquaintances to join the structure being created, after which the group intended to organize terrorist crimes in the region.
The Case and Continued Investigation
A criminal case has been opened against the organizer under Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — facilitation of terrorist activity, including involvement in committing such crimes. Investigators continue to establish the circumstances of the group's creation and the alleged actions of its members.
Not the First Case in the Republic
This is not the first such detention in Kabardino-Balkaria in recent months. Earlier, on August 26, in the Zolsky district, FSB and Interior Ministry officers, with support from the Rosgvardia, detained 11 alleged members of a cell of an international terrorist organization. According to the security services, those involved were suspected of spreading radical ideology and violence against people who did not share their views, including attacks on local residents. They were also charged with organizing the activities of a terrorist structure and participating in it, and all of them were placed in custody.
