A mysterious find on the shore
An unusual object resembling a piece of spacecraft has been found on the Thai island of Ko Mai Phai. What it is and where it came from remains unknown, reports The Thaiger.
What the specialists are doing
Specialists have traveled to the island from Thailand's space agency GISTDA. Together with staff from marine services and the national park, they examined the object, established the circumstances of its discovery, and studied data from space object monitoring. After the inspection, the find was sent to the Space Krenovation Park research center in Chonburi province, where engineers will study it and determine the object's origin. The agency is not yet ready to confirm that the object actually came from space; the results of the examination are promised to be published later.
A warning for residents and tourists
GISTDA has asked local residents and tourists not to touch suspicious objects found on the shore: rocket and satellite debris sometimes contains hazardous chemicals. If such objects are found, the agency advises taking a photo, marking the location of the find, and contacting local authorities.
