Rubio will remain in the Trump administration until the end of the term
US Secretary of State and the president's national security adviser Marco Rubio does not intend to leave Donald Trump's administration in order to prepare for the 2028 presidential election. In an interview with The New York Times, the diplomat said that working with the current occupant of the White House until the end of his term had always been part of his plans. Rubio admitted that he is satisfied with his duties and does not understand where the information about his possible departure comes from, noting that such talk makes him laugh rather than worry.
Dual role and reaction to the rumors
The politician recalled that he simultaneously holds two senior posts — head of American diplomacy and Trump's national security adviser — and intends to continue working in both positions. When asked which post exactly he might leave, Rubio joked: «I ask in return: Which one of them?». Earlier, media reports appeared saying that Trump's circle was discussing the possible replacement of Secretary of State Rubio with the US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor. However, Gor himself called these publications complete nonsense and stressed that he does not intend to change his post, while the State Department and the White House also denied the information about the planned reshuffle.
