Eight years with a generic face
Russian Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Matvey Safonov has received a realistic face model in the football simulator EA Sports FC 27. Screenshots have appeared online showing the keeper looking noticeably closer to his real-life counterpart, reports Life.ru.
What has changed
Safonov has been present in the EA Sports simulator series since 2017: he first appeared in FIFA 18 as a Krasnodar player. However, all this time his appearance was created using the standard character editor, so the resemblance to the real footballer was weak. Now the developers have prepared a full game face for him — an individual appearance model. They plan to add it to the publicly available version of the game with the November update.
The goalkeeper's stats
According to the official EA Sports website, Safonov's overall rating in FC 27 is 83 — one of the highest among Russian footballers. This season, the 27-year-old goalkeeper, now in his third year at PSG, has played 14 matches in all competitions and has won the Champions League twice — in the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is 30 million euros, making him the most expensive Russian footballer.
Season context
Life.ru also previously reported on PSG's crushing victory over Spanish side Villarreal in the Champions League, 6:0: the Parisians set a tournament record by scoring four goals in the first 17 minutes of the match. Safonov guarded the goal and, for the first time in the current Champions League campaign, played a match without conceding a goal.
