Statement on a new security architecture
The administration of US President Donald Trump proceeds from the premise that long-term peace in Europe is impossible without agreements involving Russia and Washington's NATO allies. This was stated on the social network X by the American leader's son-in-law, businessman Jared Kushner, reports Gazeta.Ru. According to him, for more than 30 years Europe and Russia have tried to build a sustainable security system, but decades of suspicion, mutually contradictory security concerns and the catastrophic consequences of the conflict in Ukraine make this task extremely difficult — yet, in Kushner's view, it remains important for establishing a durable peace.
Consultations with European leaders
Kushner attached to the post a fragment of Trump's remarks in which the latter expressed his conviction that Russia and the US are close to agreements not only on resolving the conflict in Ukraine but also on security in Europe as a whole. The businessman also noted that on November 5 the American leader made progress in important consultations with some European leaders regarding the need for a broader security architecture which, in his assessment, could help create conditions for long-term peace. At the same time, Kushner emphasized that any agreements must fully respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity and the right of every country to make its own decisions.
Context
The publication is based on Kushner's personal statement on the social network; the message does not disclose the substance of the November 5 consultations or the participants in the talks. Earlier, as the outlet notes, Kushner had already spoken about the negotiations on Ukraine. The publication reports no agreed decisions or signed documents — so far we are talking about statements and consultations, not adopted agreements.
