Attack in a green zone
In Kaliningrad, a woman suffered a broken leg and facial injuries while trying to protect her dog from another dog. This was reported by Klops, and the report was cited by Gazeta.Ru. The incident took place in the evening of September 26 in a green zone on Mashinostroitel'naya Street. According to the victim, Oksana, an unfamiliar dog without a leash — a Jack Russell terrier — ran up to her and her Australian shepherd, which was on a leash.
What happened, according to the victim
The shepherd drove the terrier away, after which its owner began beating the dog with his fists and feet. When the woman tried to intervene, the man struck her in the face twice. “Mine was on a leash, he couldn't defend himself or run away. And then a punch flew at my face. I fell. I get up, and he keeps beating my dog. And then a second blow lands on my face. My consciousness grew hazy, everything went blurry. Meanwhile, the man grabbed his Jack Russell and walked away; I only managed to photograph him from behind,” the Kaliningrad resident told the outlet.
Consequences and refusal to open a case
After the attack, Oksana's leg quickly swelled up and her face turned blue. At the trauma center, she was diagnosed with a displaced fracture of the ankle of her right lower leg with bone fragments; the dog had a broken nose. The woman filed a police report and underwent a forensic medical examination, but she was refused the opening of a criminal case. She is still on sick leave, as the bone is healing poorly after the fracture, and, according to her, she hopes the attacker will be punished. The information comes from the victim's account and media reports; the police's position or the reasons for refusing to open the case are not given in the publications.
