Working Russian women in 2026 may receive maternity leave benefits of up to 1.32 million rubles. State Duma deputy Nikita Chaplin told Life.ru how these payments are calculated. The maximum amount depends on the length of maternity leave and on official earnings over the previous two years.

What determines the payment amount

For a standard leave of 140 calendar days, the maximum payment is 955,836 rubles. With complicated childbirth, the leave lasts 156 days, and the maximum reaches 1,065,074.40 rubles. With a multiple pregnancy, 194 days are paid — the upper limit is 1,324,515.60 rubles. According to Chaplin, the limits for leaves of 140 and 194 days have risen by about 20.3% compared with 2025.

Who gets the maximum and how to apply for the payment

The maximum amounts are not available to everyone: the benefit is calculated individually based on official income subject to insurance contributions. For women going on maternity leave in 2026, earnings for 2024 and 2025 are taken into account; the maximum average daily income for the calculation is 6,827 rubles 40 kopecks. With an insurance record of six months or more, 100% of average earnings is paid, subject to the limits. If the record is less than six months, an additional cap applies — no more than the federal minimum wage for a full calendar month, which in 2026 is 27,093 rubles; in regions with district coefficients, the calculation takes them into account.

How to receive the payment

To apply, you need to obtain an electronic maternity sick leave certificate and submit a leave application to your employer. The medical organization will itself transmit the sick leave information to the electronic system, and the employer will send the data needed to assign the benefit. The payment is transferred by the Social Fund of Russia as a single sum for the entire maternity leave period — no later than ten working days after the fund receives all the necessary information.
