The key facts

  • Interpreters attributed predictions for 2027 to quatrain 27 of the 'Centuries': fires, an economic crisis, upheaval in France, and an escalation in the Middle East
  • Historian Alexey Penzensky noted that no one has explained why the number 27 points specifically to 2027 and not, say, 1927
  • Similar logic for 2026 predicted the return of paganism, which did not happen

Where did the 'predictions for 2027' come from

The trigger for a new wave of discussion was a publication by the British portal LadBible, which compiled five alarming interpretations of Nostradamus's texts. The authors suggested that the 27th quatrain of each of the 'Centuries' describes events of the year 2027 specifically. On this basis, predictions emerged about devastating wildfires, an economic crisis, political upheaval in France, and an escalation of the situation in the Middle East — as reported by Gazeta.Ru and Life.ru.

What exactly was 'seen' in the quatrains

According to the interpreters, the quatrains mention the arrival of a force 'from Persia' (interpreters linked this to Iran and the Turkish city of Trabzon), conflicts 'with fire and weapons' near the Black Sea, a 'heavenly fire' moving from west to east, rising prices for gold and silver, the devaluation of securities and growing debt burdens, as well as a struggle for the French presidency. Life.ru draws attention to a detailthat undermines the very scheme: the 'prophecy' about gold, silver, and debts was found in quatrain 28 of Century VIII, not under number 27.

The historian's criticism

Candidate of Historical Sciences and researcher of Nostradamus's legacy Alexey Penzensky in a comment to aif.ru called such decodings an example of hype rather than a reliable indication of events. According to him, no one has explained why the number 27 was linked specifically to the year 2027: 'People simply wanted to hype things up. It is unclear why they tied quatrain 27 specifically to 2027 and not, for example, to 1927.' To demonstrate the weakness of this approach, he suggested checking a similar 'prediction' for 2026 from the third 'Century' — it describes the restoration of pagan cults and ritual practices, yet less than two months remain until the end of 2026, and nothing of the kind has been observed.

Context

Life.ru recalls that neural networks have also attempted to decode the quatrains: in February the platform YesChat.ai produced a scenario for 2026–2027 featuring flooding in southeastern Great Britain and a political crisis in France, but no scientific grounds were presented for considering such interpretations reliable. Nostradamus himself, who died in 1566, never explicitly mentioned the year 2027 anywhere — all the sensational interpretations belong to modern authors who match the vague imagery of the 16th century with current events.
