The key facts

  • Petrosyan entered for the Grand Prix stage in the USA on November 13–15
  • The spot opened up after the withdrawal of Belgian skater Pinzarone
  • Petrosyan already had a stage planned in Japan on November 27–29

Petrosyan received a spot at the American stage

Russian figure skater Adeliia Petrosyan has been entered for the Grand Prix stage of the International Skating Union (ISU) in the USA — the information appeared on the ISU website, and it is cited by Gazeta.Ru. The tournament will take place from November 13 to 15.

How the substitution issue was resolved

On November 2 it became known that Belgian skater Pinzarone had withdrawn from this stage. Petrosyan and Japanese skater Saki Miyake were contenders for her spot, and the outcome depended on the date ISU was notified of the withdrawal: if Pinzarone reported it on November 1 or earlier, the spot would go to Petrosyan, who was first on the substitutes list; if later — to Miyake, who topped the substitutes list after the Grand Prix stage in Canada that ended on November 1. Petrosyan's final entry means the first scenario played out, although the publications themselves do not reveal the exact date of the notification.

Two stages in the season

Petrosyan already has one Grand Prix stage — in Japan, which will take place from November 27 to 29. Thus, she will compete in two stages of the series within one month. Separately, Gazeta.Ru recalls that earlier in Finland there were proposals not to issue visas to Russian figure skaters ahead of the 2027 World Championship.
