Announcement in a local community

In the Olkhon district of Irkutsk Oblast a local resident named Dmitry saved a dog that had become frozen into the ice on the Malaya Anga river. According to him, he learned about the situation on November 4 from an announcement with a photo of the trapped animal posted in a local community, after which he contacted the Emergency Ministry (EMERCOM) to clarify the address. He told this to 360.ru, whose report is also cited by Life.ru.

How the rescue unfolded

Arriving at the riverbank, the man found that the dog's front leg was twisted, the other limb was frozen into the ice, and its hindquarters were already sinking into the water. Realizing that the animal could not be freed with bare hands, Dmitry went to get tools, and several more helpers arrived at the rescue site. Through joint efforts, the dog was gradually freed from its icy trap.

The animal's condition

Dmitry personally took the injured animal to a veterinary hospital in Irkutsk, stopping along the way to check on it and feed it. According to him, the dog ate a little but refused water. At the hospital, specialists identified a muscle injury based on scans; veterinarians suggested the dog had been hit by a car, after which it crawled to the river and froze there. The rescuer expressed hope that the animal would survive despite its grave condition and prolonged exposure to the cold. No final prognosis is given in the reports.

A similar case in Khabarovsk Krai

Life.ru also recalls a similar case described earlier: EMERCOM rescuers pulled a freezing roe deer out of an icy polynya in Khabarovsk Krai. The operation was complicated by the great depth of the water; after the rescue, the animal was taken to the Python zoological center. What these two episodes have in common is only the general scenario — animals trapped in ice — they are separate incidents in different regions.
