The key facts
- The printer at a North Carolina gas station failed to print a receipt, which led Bram Dunahoo to go into the store and buy a lottery ticket
- The ticket brought him $2 million; the purchase was made on the eve of Halloween
A Breakdown That Changed the Day
US resident Bram Dunahoo won $2 million in the lottery under circumstances he himself calls incredible. As Gazeta.Ru reports, citing UPI, he refueled his car at a gas station in North Carolina and tried to print a receipt, but the printer at the pump was not working. He had to go to the cashier inside the store for the receipt — and while there, he also bought a lottery ticket, which turned out to be a winner.
The Winner's Reaction
Dunahoo admitted that he still cannot believe what happened: if the printer had been working properly, he would have taken his receipt and driven off without even thinking about a lottery ticket. The purchase fell on the eve of Halloween, and the winner joked that it is now his favorite holiday — as a child he loved going trick-or-treating for candy, but this surprise turned out to be far more pleasant.
