New fines for violating gas handling rules
The President signed a law on improving oversight in the field of fire safety, which introduces amendments to the Administrative Liability Code. As UzNews.uz reports, the document introduces two new articles concerning the handling of liquefied gas and fire insurance for facilities.
Refilling household cylinders at LPG stations will become an administrative offense
Under the new Article 101-1 ('Violation of the procedure for retail sale of liquefied hydrocarbon gas'), refilling household gas cylinders with liquefied gas at automobile gas filling stations will carry a fine of 3 to 5 BRVs — from 1.32 million to 2.2 million soums. The rule affects both car owners accustomed to refilling household cylinders at LPG stations and the stations themselves, which will bear responsibility for such sales.
Mandatory insurance for markets and shopping centers
The second new article, 211-1, concerns failure to fulfill the obligation of mandatory fire insurance. Owners of markets, shopping complexes, and shopping and entertainment centers are required to insure their civil liability for harm to the life and health of third parties resulting from fire, as well as to insure the facilities themselves. The fine for non-compliance will range from 50 to 75 BRVs (from 22 million to 33 million soums), and in case of a repeated violation within a year — up to 100 BRVs (44 million soums).
When the rules take effect
The law will enter into force on February 5 of next year, meaning market participants and owners of commercial facilities have time to bring their practices into line with the new requirements. The text of the signed document has been published on the Lex.uz portal.
